Trace County Schools congratulates eighth-grader Maya Holloway, who placed second in Saturday's regional spelling bee, and sixth-grader Benji Reese, who advanced through six rounds of competition.
Language arts teachers Corinne Webb and Samuel Pike accompanied the students. The Trace Parent Council, led by Noreen Kelly, provided transportation and competition materials.
Maya will serve as the regional alternate at the state competition in April.
