A SMALL-TOWN DAY
Start downtown. Then follow the roads out.
Trace has never been a resort town. What it offers is quieter: brick storefronts with their old proportions intact, roads laid around farms instead of through them, and stories that do not always come labeled.

The Trace loop
01Depot Square
Begin at the 1912 freight depot, now home to the reading room and Saturday market. The public room is open Thursday through Saturday.
02Mill Creek Road
A quiet two-lane drive past former packing sheds and working family acreage. Stay on the public road; surrounding fields are private property.
03North Water Tower
The 1938 tower still marks the town from every approach. The gravel overlook closes at dusk and has no restroom facilities.
Come Thursday–Saturday
Most local counters close Sunday through Wednesday. Fuel is not available after 8:00 p.m.
Saturday produce tables
8:00 a.m.–noon at the depot when weather permits. Bring cash; cellular service can be uneven.
